The customer called us after their key stopped working and they were locked out of the server room at their business. After we got the door open we observed several things which indicated that the person who installed the lock was poorly trained. For example, the lock body was attached to the inside of the door using sheet metal screws, several screws were stripped, and the lock cylinder was poorly pinned and appeared to have been held under a wire wheel/grinder to remove excess length from incorrect pin sizes used. Additionally, we installed a new strike plate as the old plate did not allow the deadlatch pin to set properly, leaving the door vulnerable to latch tampering. The old lock we replaced had functioned for a while but eventually failed due to poor installation.
